Crowdsourcing and More

What is crowdsourcing and why is it in this website?!

Crowdsourcing & Crowdfunding

Crowdsourcing is the process of obtaining needed services, ideas, or content by soliciting contributions from a large group of people, and especially from an online community

Crowdfunding is the practice of funding a project or venture by raising monetary contributions from a large number of people, typically via the internet; it's the crowdsourcing of money!

Economic Development

A definition of economic development that we like is:
“Promoting economic prosperity and improved quality of life in every community.”

We believe that successful economic development requires both promoting business growth and development of a strong, healthy community commensurate with that growth. Almost any kind of economic development intersects with the law at some point.

For example, entrepreneurs and startup companies need to set up formal business organizations and may have the need to protect intellectual property with patents or trademarks. Existing businesses frequently execute contracts and agreements with consumers or other businesses. Existing businesses often need to borrow money to grow and expand. This can be borrowed from banks, non-bank lenders, or even investors in the community. Business will soon be able to offer equity in their company to the general public online and this process will frequently require the assistance of securities lawyers.

The community needs to keep pace with business growth to continue to attract new business and new employees for local businesses. Community projects often require approval from state or city governments and zoning boards. Many organizations participate in this process such as community development organizations and economic development organizations and there are many legal documents involved in most of them.

We encourage you to get involved in economic development in your community. Free branded portals are available for any community or non-profit organization involved in business or community development on Main Street Crowd.
